Total of 12 running for Prince George District 1 and 2 supervisor seats – News – The Progress-Index – Petersburg, VA.

This is a fairly comprehensive article from Amir Vera of the Progress-Index, but there are a few things to point out …

Melvin C. Jones has stated to many that he did not foreclose running for reelection this fall as a quid pro quo for the interim appointment to the District 2 vacant seat.  For your information, though Melvin is running as an Independent, he is a member of the Prince George Dems.

Proudly, there are two Democratic candidates running in District 1 against the two Independent incumbents.  B. Renee Taylor Garnett and Floyd M. Brown, Jr. are members of our Democratic Committee and are excellently qualified for the two District 1 seats.

There is another Independent candidate running in District 1 … Engo H. Radant.  Can anyone share information about this candidate?

As you meet or interact with the candidates for the Board of Supervisors in your district ask them point blank if they support single member voting districts, rather than the at-large district system we now have.

@vademocrats, Prince George VA, training, vademocrats.org

All those who know me know that I hate meetings.  Why is it I spend so much of my life in meetings?

The Democratic Party of Virginia (DPVA, @vademocrats on twitter and www.vademocrats.org) held trainings for local committees this last weekend and for once the two days of training and the Central Committee Meeting provided so much information in such a directed and useable format that for once I wasn’t meeting fatigued.

Next meeting I will get my entire executive committee plus others there.

For reference … in the next couple of days you will see a calendar of upcoming events, e.g., delegate caucuses to the state convention and to the congressional districts.  Delegate selection to the Democratic Natinal Convention in Charlotte will also be held at the State Convention.

Until then sign up for the Prince George for Obama House Party on Thursday, February 16 at 5:30 at 14356 Warwick Hills Drive, Petersburg VA (Prince George County).  Party includes a dial in to Michelle Obama’s Conference Call.  Check Democrats Without Borders and Prince George Virginia Democratic Committee Pages on FaceBook for the signup link.  Don’t live in Prince George …no problem … signup and meet some Prnce George Women Xenas in support of Obama.

Whew!
