8th VA House District to have a special election:
According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Saturday, July 28th, “Republican Habeeb to leave Va. House” (A2), on August 31st. This will necessitate a special election. The 62nd Virginia House District is a hugely red district which includes Salem, Craig County, and parts of Roanoke and Montgomery counties. Yes, it would be a tough haul for a Democratic candidate, but we all know that thanks to the current resident of the White House, there are cracks opening up in many solid red districts.
Riley Ingram to not run for re-election?
The last paragraph of the same article noted that Riley Ingram had indicated to the RTD
Sheila Bynum-Coleman
that he will not run for re-election in 2019. Sheila Bynum-Coleman took well over 40% of the vote in her last run against Riley. Has anyone talked with her? Is she planning on running a third time? The third time is a charm and it is time for the 62nd Virginia House District to vote blue!

Prince George Dems meet next on Thursday, August 2.

in this election. She faced a challenge in the primary and had the opportunity to speak to citizens in the 63rd and throughout our area. She continues to be active in reaching out to citizens and organizations throughout the 63rd and the Crater area.
64th: Rebecca S. Colaw is the Democratic nominee for this seat which has no incumbent. Rebecca is a Gulf War Air Force veteran herself and is currently an attorney in Suffolk. She is very interested in workforce development and the expansion of broadband throughout the 63rd. Being a horsewoman she is also particularly interested in the agricultural challenges in the district.
Board of Supervisors, District 1: Floyd Brown, Jr. is the candidate in this district. He is uniquely qualified having been born and raised in the district. “FJ” is a business owner and IT professional and understands the challenges to our Prince George, as both a rural community, as well as a close neighbor to the urban development to the northwest of Prince George. F.J is the Treasurer of the Prince George Democratic Committee.
School Board, District 2: Leila Holmes, a member of the Prince George Democratic Committee, is the candidate for this seat. She has been an active parent and citizen volunteer in the school system and has made it a practice to attend and comment at the school board meetings. She will advocate for transparency and fairness in our schools and will advocate for the best educational opportunities for all of our students.
Both Democratic candidates for the 62nd Virginia House of Delegates district spoke. Sheila Bynum-Coleman and Tavorise Marks are the two contenders. Bynum-Coleman was the Democratic candidate in the last election and took 40 something percent of the vote. Marks has run before in 62nd primaries and brings military experience to his desire to serve.
